I finally got my hands on it today, went to boot it up and lo and behold: I made the purchase Mid-June, their flight was delayed until this week. Obviously I did this because the price difference was significant and they were making the trip anyway. It was bought in their name and delivered to their address but I used my card to make the purchase. My American friend recently did me a favour and brought over a new M1 Mac Mini to the UK.
